The 9th activity

20th of August 2012

After we presented the case of Elvira, who no longer had the affection of the family and close relatives, in our next activity four of the members of our team held an extremely interesting discussion with two war veterans: Mr Botezatu-91 years old and Mr Drăgotescu-97 years old. In comparison with the previous case, the elderly have some attention, appreciation and love from their family. Originally from the village of Ploştina, Mr. Drăgotescu and Mr.Botezatu stated that in their youth, this village was very populated and that there is a deep connection between all the inhabitants. Through extensive discussions like this one, between representatives of the young-old generations, the two sides realized that they have things in common and that they can help each other.

The 8th activity

 15th of August 2012

The project team "Fireflies" initiated the greening activity at the home of Mrs. teacher Elvira. She said she really needed some help from our side because, due to old age and the problems with the sight it is very hard to clean the entire household.

We mobilized quickly and on 15th of August, we grabbed the job. Those 6 volunteers present at the activity  have worked together and so they managed to change the dark atmosphere which was in the House and in the yard of Mrs. Elvira.

The 7th activity

5th of August 2012

On the 5th of August our team members met at the Orthodox Cathedral of the city of Motru, to get in touch with older men and to present the theme of our project.During the activity we've all been very excited, even elderly people were enthusiastic to offer us their advice, and share experiences.We also spoke with the priest, which was very happy to hear about this project and told us that he would be glad to help us.

The 6th activity

In July, our team has organized a excursion together with the elderly in a very beautiful tourist places of the area: the Tismana Monastery, Tismana trout, Henti Glogoveanu. During this trip, there happened a lot of fun things, we played football and we shared life experience with eachother.

The 5th activity

Considering that the time has come for us to learn something from successful people, we decided to hold an interview with each of them, namely:Mr Sarcina, Mr. Ramescu and a representative of the BCR Bank , from which I could glean most of the tips.

Mr. Sarcina told us that he started his own business at the age of 20 years,without which he will probably not be here. He revealed us the secrets of a successful business, with emphasis on the following words: "it is difficult, but not impossible to run a business."

From Mr. Ramescu I learned that the beginning is always the hardest because dreams seem impossible, but ultimately achievable. This successful man, over time, has come to hold important business. Becoming a man worth to be followed, we tried to dig deep into his past, finding a lot of important things.

BCR representative told us that the amount of money you have doesn't matter and the thing that actually matters is how they are used to fulfill what you want, both in business and in everyday life.

The 4th activity

Through those organized activities, our team aims to create a deep and sentimental connection

between young people and the elderly.This could not be managed without the organisation of cultural activities which are representative for both of the generations.One of these activities was achieved through watching old movies which show how the society was 3, 4 decades ago.After the end of these films, they have debated a lot and have come to a conclusion.Young people have understood that some time ago values were really respected, and rude things were not tolerated .The elders have appreciated very much the technology and resourcefulness that we brought.In particular, we, the young people learned very important things about culture, education and many more.We saw old roumain movies like Ciuleandra, and some new movies like Avatar and also an animation: Up

Throughout this new activity we had the opportunity to feel good and to discover things which we have in common with eachother.The link between the protagonists of this activity has become even stronger.

The 3rd activity

Chess is certainly one of the most popular games in the world. This may due to his very long history, but also because of the style and its opportunities online, almost infinite.The mind and life can be compared to a game of chess.Therefore, we have decided to organize a chess contest between the elderly and members of our team.If the elderly are not good at Chess, then who?We had very many difficulties for us to keep at their level.In this confrontation meet the experience and wisdom with freshness and clairvoyance.In addition to this chess game, I received many tips from our elderly friends.They have explained that we must think every move we make, and if it will be wrong..checkmate.The link between the two generations was strengthened through the exchange of experiences.In the end he created a symbiosis between the two mindsets and types of thinking.The elderly have won the contest, telling their experience and Word.The protagonists of this contest have understood that if the two generations in society would do more activities like these, there will be a better future for everyone.To immortalize the moment I made pictures and videos of the game group, encouraging us to each other.It was a pleasant experience from which everyone had to learn.
